Best Buy is proud to present the Best Buy Dyno Challenge. This event will be held along with the 19th Annual All Corvette Cruise-In at the Manassas (VA) Best Buy parking lot, August 9, 2008. The Valley Dyno team will run your Corvette, on their Mobile DynoJet 248, against all other Corvettes for the top prize trophy in two Categories! Find out who really has the most goose at the wheels by testing the horsepower and torque of your Corvette. This one’s not just for bragging rights! Best Buy is supplying a number of $250 and $100 gift cards for the winners. The Best Buy Dyno Challenge is also different in that it is not just a competition to see who makes the most horsepower. Before your dyno pulls you will be challenged to estimate your RWHP prior to you run on the dyno. The challenge is to specify a RWHP as close as possible to your actual numbers for the day. The person closest to estimate, without going over, is the challenge winner - Price Is Right style. There will also be a trophy or plaque for all winners. The competition will begin at 2 PM, Saturday, August 9, 2008 with the winners announced at 8 PM. Competitors wishing to participate in the Dyno Challenge can learn more about the event and venue online at www.allcorvettecruisein.com and can register online or on-site at the All Corvette Cruise-In held in the Manassas Best Buy parking lot, August 9, 2008. The Best Buy Dyno Challenge is limited to first come first served Corvettes with admission to the Cruise-In. The 19th Annual All Corvette Cruise-In is hosted by the Old Dominion Corvette Club and the dyno challenge is presented by Best Buy. "The Best Buy Dyno Challenge allows Corvette enthusiasts in the area to prove the true power and performance of their vehicles to a set of mathematical standards," said Mick Lemish, President, Old Dominion Corvette Club. "A computer calculates the acceleration and resistance of the dyno drums by continuous measurements of their speed/time and is useful in determining power, drivability issues, and fuel usage.” Registration for the Best Buy Dyno Challenge is required and the number of participants is limited to time / availability. Pre-Registration cost is $75 per car, and includes the $5 donation to enter the cruise-in. Please print your online receipt and show it to the gate attendant at the Cruise-In entrance. Registration for the Dyno Challenge on site will be $100 and spaces are very limited. If the event is cancelled due to the dyno-operator or availability of equipment, a refund will be sent to you.
The Old Dominion Corvette Club, Inc. is a 501(c) (7) nonprofit social club, and home for Corvette enthusiasts in Fairfax, Loudoun, Prince William, and surrounding Virginia counties. Participants in the Best Buy Dyno Challenge agree to release the dyno operator, Old Dominion Corvette Club, Kimco Realty, and Best Buy (their employees, representatives, directors and officers) from any and every claim, demand, action or right of action, of whatever kind of nature, either in law or in equity, arising from or by reason on any bodily or personal injury, death or property damage, known or unknown, resulting to or result from the releasers use of dynamometer test equipment. A separate release form will be required at the time of the event by the dyno operator. This release includes but is not limited to acts of gross negligence, acts by dyno-tuner which constitutes willful, wanton or reckless acts by dyno-Tuner. This release also includes but is not limited to any claim against the dyno operator, Old Dominion Corvette Club, and Best Buy (their employees, representatives, directors and officers) for first aid, medical treatment, or services rendered during participation in the above described Dyno Challenge.
